Small Farm. Big Dreams. A Whole Lot of Heart.

Melton's Produce Shack is a woman-owned, family-run farmstand in the countryside of Belvidere, North Carolina. What started as a small roadside stand is still, at heart, a ma-and-pa operation built on family, hard work, and old-fashioned Southern hospitality.

The Shack is self-serve and runs on the honor system. Alongside fresh, local produce you'll find eggs, honey, jams, pantry staples, coffee, sweets and gifts — plus bulk ordering so families can buy in quantity without grocery-store prices.

Meet the Meltons

Melton's is led by Lynnet Melton, a registered nurse whose habit of caring for people shows up in everything here. Beside her is her husband Scott, a farm-equipment mechanic who can build, fix and haul just about anything — and who turns Lynnet's big ideas into something that actually works. Their children and extended family are part of the story too.

The Possum That Started Something Big

One day the family found a possum soaking in the hot tub. Later, when Lynnet needed a name for an unconventional puff-corn snack, that possum came to mind — and Possum Puffs were born. With the tagline "Ugly Good," the first run sold out in under 30 days, and local stores have been reordering ever since.

Community Is at the Heart of It All

We also created the Backroads Crawls — self-guided drives down the country roads of Northeastern North Carolina to meet farmstands, growers, bakers and makers. They're about knowing where your food comes from and keeping rural places alive.

Come visit the Shack, take the backroads, try the Possum Puffs, and stay awhile. You are always welcome here.
